Cadillac Ranch Fordite (1 Piece Polished 2 Sides)
This Fordite is very unique created by the 1000s of artists that visited there to create their own art on half buried GM Cadillacs. The Fordite is collected by enthusiasts by chipping it off the vehicles. It is softer than the traditional factory Fordite and has various types of paint material. Along with the beautifully bright patterns, it is also very reactive to UV light. Glowing brightly under UV light it's shine is intense.
The story goes that a group set about acquiring ten used Cadillacs, ranging in model years from 1948 to 1963. Built along with the tattered remains of historic Route 66, the cars represented the “Golden Age” of American automobiles. Most of the cars were purchased from junkyards and averaged about $200. The cars were then buried nose-down, facing west along the old highway. Those that could run were driven into the half-burial holes; the rest were hoisted in. In 1974 the project was completed, and in no time at all, visitors began to come from all over the world, leaving their mark on the ever-thickening graffiti-covered cars.
