Fluorite is common to North America and in Michigan and can be found in the Northwest lower and upper peninsula regions.  It is a colorful translucent mineral that ranges from white, yellow, green, blue, pink, purple, brown and black.  It can also have nice banding throughout the mineral and is fluoresces under UV light as a dark bluish purple.
